Rega Turntables
Less is more.
Rega began building turntable in 1973 and for a number of years had only two models available. Both were considered excellent performers for their price and a great value. As their products have evolved, they have both moved way up in performance while still maintaining their rather minimalist approach to design.
While other manufacturers were going to sometimes ridiculous lengths to add mass and make turntables enormous, Rega believed in lower mass. This approach focuses on rigidity with the goal of providing outstanding control. When you think of the incredibly small movements of a stylus in a groove, any relative motion diminishes detail in the sound.
The UK approach to turntable design is famed for being very adept at what is referred to as "rhythm and pace" . . . the ability to convey the feel and propulsion of the music. This is much more difficult to do when you have a heavy mass that is more plodding. For some this might imply that the bass has less weight, and that has been true in the past. With today's Rega models, especially the higher end ones, the bass is very powerful but articulate and indeed propels the music.
The Planar 10 is based on a $30,000 concept table, of which only a handful were made. Rega feels that they have actually surpassed what they learned in that endeavor, and you get significant trickle down of impressive even as you drop down through the model line.
We're proud to present and demonstrate Rega turntables in the Kansas City area. They also make a fine range of phono stages, digital devices and integrated amps.
